Rod Macdonald
Rod Macdonald is an Australian photographer living and working in Cambridge. As well as exhibiting and selling prints of his work, he will be running demonstration sessions on nude/fetish/bondage photography as part of the Festival.
Rod has written three books on photography of the nude, including the best-selling Erotique Digitale. His work has been shown at the Seattle Erotic Art Festival, where he won the Best International Artist award in 2007, the Dirty Show in Detroit, Erotic Signature in Florida, LeedsErotica, CCK and Resistance in London, as well as in Cambridge and Norwich. He’s worked as a staff photographer on events including Achtung, Night of the Senses, Passion, Xpo and The Clinic (Amsterdam).
Rod is active on the BDSM scene, and has taught ropework at fetish events in Leeds, Leicester, London, Cambridge and Norwich as well as at the midlands Peer Workshop. In recent years his photography has focussed on fetish and bondage images which incorporate his own ropework, often involving more than one model, and drawing out the sensual and erotic potential of the bound body as a photographic subject.
Following the great tradition of classic photography of the nude, much of Rod’s work is monochrome. More recently he’s been exploring the use of saturated colour as another means of intensifying the power of the image.
